Mental Development

• Begin to understand cause and effect

Visual Development

• Be able to pay attention to a very small object
• Move their head and eyes when they notice activity
• Have both eyes working together

Growth

• Weigh about 6.9 kg if she’s a girl or about 7.5 kg if he’s a boy
• Be about 64.0 cm tall if she’s a girl or about 65.9 cm tall if he’s a boy

Motor Development

• Hold their head steady when upright
• May move short distances by rocking on their stomach, kicking their legs, and swimming with their arms
• Reach for objects
• Grab their own toes and pull them toward their mouth

Social and Emotional Development

• Like to play “peek-a-boo,” which involves repeatedly hiding and revealing a face
• Be happy to play and interact with others
• Be very affectionate with and excited at seeing their parents
