How Much is Enough?

Mothers may worry that their babies are not having enough milk when breastfeeding. Some signs your baby is getting enough milk include:

  • Having at least 6 – 8 feeds a day
  • Having 6 – 8 pale wet nappies each day
  • Growing and gaining weight
  • Being alert and content
  • Having soft stools
  • Settling after each feed
  • Having a healthy skin tone.

Feed as often and for as long as your baby wants. Your baby will stop when they’re satisfied.

However, if you are at all concerned, you should contact your GP, healthcare provider or lactation consultant.
