Voluntary recall: Two batches of ALULA infant formula

We are working closely with regulatory authorities, retailers and consumers to manage the recall quickly and efficiently, while also minimising any potential disruption to supply.

Cereulide is produced by certain strains of the bacteria Bacillus cereus. It can cause gastro-intestinal disorders (in particular vomiting) if present at high levels.
The presence of cereulide in infant formula is very uncommon.
What should I do if I have purchased or used the recalled formula?
First, if you have any concerns about your child’s health or nutrition, we advise you to seek medical advice and talk to your healthcare professional.
If your product is part of the recall, you should stop using it immediately and return the product to the retailer where it was purchased for a full refund or call the Sanulac Careline on 1800 552 229.
What are the symptoms I should look for? What should I do if my child shows signs of being unwell?
Regardless of whether symptoms are present, parents and caregivers are instructed to discontinue use of any recalled product batches.
Symptoms potentially associated with cereulide (se-ru-lide) exposure include:
- Vomiting
- Gastrointestinal discomfort
- Diarrhoea
Symptoms usually appear between 15 minutes and 6 hours after ingestion.
If your child develops any of these symptoms or if you have any concerns regarding their health or feeding, please contact your healthcare professional for medical advice.
Has anyone become ill caused by these products?
There have been no confirmed cases of illness caused by the products involved to date.
What do I feed my child if I can’t purchase your product?
Please speak with your healthcare professional for advice on selecting an alternative infant formula for your baby. We can reassure you that there are other suitable products available for formula-fed infants experiencing reflux or colic and/or constipation.
